The island of Tenerife offers much more than just sun, sand and sea. The best way to explore its many aspects from mountain to coves is by the unfortunately named 'TITSA' bus company. This island-wide company provides a cheap and efficient means of travelling around.
For maximum savings, make sure you buy a 'bono' card. Available from all the main bus stations, the prepay card (€12 or €30) entitles you to half price fares on any journey over 20 kilometres, plus free admission to many museums in the capital, Santa Cruz.
Two Tenerife tram routes also operate between Santa Cruz and La Laguna with work on another service linking north and south due to start soon.
